A Healy volunteer takes a break

According to the Clerk of the Hudson County Board of Elections Michal Harper, the elections turnout this year for Hoboken and Jersey City are somewhat low, after travelling between two towns. Are there more volunteers out there than voters? Have you voted already? If you haven’t cast your vote yet, you still have a few hours left, as Polls will closed at 8PM tonight.

A few election incidents made the news today. This morning, there was a confusion at a polling location on Sip Avenue in JSQ area. At Public School 24 on Kennedy Boulevard, a poll worker, Karama Ball, was kicked out for using a cellphone, which is strictly forbidden inside the location.

There will be 3 this week, and one on the 23rd.

The one that’s making buzz is the first debate scheduled today at Loews Theater in Journal Square. Our current mayor – Mayor Jerramiah Healy – rejected the invitation to participate, saying that he will “give first priority to attending debates that are sponsored by respected, fair and unbiased organizations that reach a broad audience.”

Mayor Healy will be attending the rest of the forums, according to Jersey City Independent.

Mayoral Hopefuls Debates and Forums Schedule:

Wednesday, April 1, 1 p.m.
- Loew’s Theatre in Journal Square. Free and open to the public. Moderated by local TV host Pat O’Melia, the Jersey Journal’s Agustin Torres and Earl Morgan and writer Ricardo Kaulessar of the Jersey City Reporter.

Thursday, April 2, 7 p.m.
- Forum hosted by The Heights Coalition for mayoral candidates.  Christa McAuliffe Elementary School Auditorium, P.S. 28, 167 Hancock Ave.

Saturday, April 4,  1 p.m.
- Debate of mayoral and Ward C and D candidates at Abundant Joy Church, 137 Bowers St. hosted by The AARP, Chapter 5102

Thursday, April 23 7:30p.m. – 9:30p.m.
- The Downtown Coalition of Neighborhood Associations (DCNA) & Civic JC will host a Mayoral debate from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.at the Frank R Conwell Middle School, M.S. 4, 70 Bright St.
