You thought you missed the fun at Pershing Field?

More than a week ago, I wrote about the Pershing Field Carnival, but I was not sure when it will end. The weekday hours were also unknown to me.

Finally, Jersey Journal picked up this event and published the details today. I got the weekend hours correct (2-10pm).

…Tomorrow and Saturday will be “wristband specials” in which there will be unlimited rides for $20. For information, call 201-679-6727.

Where : Pershing Field, Central Avenue, Jersey City
When : Open till Saturday (April 19)
Hours : Friday (6-10pm) | Saturday (2pm – 10pm)
Contact : (201) 679-6727
Admission : I assume it’s free, but you need to buy a ticket for a ride.

UPDATE (04/08/2008) : I was just there at 630pm tonight and saw lots of people. I talked to the cops manning the place and they said carnival will run until Sunday (April 13). Weekend hours is 2pm – 10pm. If you think this information is inaccurate, kindly write something in the comment box.

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that they were setting up carnival rides at Pershing Field so I decided to drive along Central Avenue to see if it’s finished. And sure enough, there were Ferris wheel, Dragon Wagon, and other rides in the area.

I looked around and saw a man inside the ticket booth so I decided to ask a little.

Ferris Wheel

The man inside the ticket booth was solving a crossword puzzle when I approached him. When asked if the carnival is a part of bigger “feast” or “celebration”, he shook his head and said “No.” and went back to the puzzle. I asked him if this is a fund-raiser event, he aimlessly looked at me and said “No.” and went back to the puzzle again.

Friendly guy.

After sensing he wasn’t interested “socializing”, I decided not to ask any further and just took a few pictures before I left.
