Long Island Fire Departments suspected that the source of the odor might be from this JC fire last night.

A 2-yr old boy was rescued by firefighters Jose Cotty and Pat Murphy from the burning house. The two firemen performed CPR on the boy, who was transported then to Jersey City Medical Center. He will be transferred to St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston.

The fire started in the kitchen of the house. The unidentified grandfather was fighting it using a garden hose. He was brought to JC Medical Center along with his 7-year old grandson Antonio Sy (brother of Oliver).

JC Fire Department Director Armando Roman was proud of his boys for rescuing the family and reviving the little boy. “This was a bona fide rescue,” he told NJ.com. “This boy would not be alive if it wasn’t for the effort of these firefighters.”

Good job, Firefighters! *salutes*

And get well soon, Oliver!
