The is the second part of Pappi’s Glass Bottle Bubbles. Read Glass Bottle Bubbles Part 1 for its backstory.

It was the week of Valentine’s day when – Pappi’s Glass Bottle Bubbles were removed from its spot at 1st Street and Newark Avenue.

“Pappi” (not his real name) – the Jersey City local street artist who prefers to be anonymous – has formed two theories on why his sculpture installations had been temporarily removed by the Jersey City Parking Authority:

1. Someone in the area complained
2. JCPA was triggered by liability issues

Day 2 of the installation

Pappi quickly dropped number 1 theory, as he thinks that JC residents “prefer art over loitering drunks…” to quote him.

Theory number 2 was more likely, as the city will not allow people falling over the bottles and getting hurt because of it.

Read the complete story and see more pictures of Glass Bottle Bubbles…

Night 5 of the installation.

It is confirmed that this is a liability issue, based on Pappi’s email updates. According to Pappi, JCPA crew liked the art and didn’t want it removed. Unfortunately, they were just following orders. Pappi had met with JCPA officials to make the sculpture installations permanent.

Have you seen this glass bottle bubbles before it was taken down? If not, then make sure not to miss Pappi’s latest sculpture installation: The Flynn Star on Monmouth Street.

My latest email conversation with Pappi includes his latest street stunt, but he did not disclose the location yet.

Keep up the good work, Pappi! And we hope the Glass Bottle Bubbles will have a permanent location for viewing.

Earlier today, I received an email from a Jersey City local street artist PJW (aka “Pappi”) telling that he installed his latest work on the house at the corner of 3rd Street and Monmouth Street.

I featured Pappi’s work twice already: the first was the Glass Bottle Bubbles Part 1 (Part 2 coming this week), and the second was the Chain Star and Chain Web.

He calls his newest art – which is measured 4ft x 4ft x 1ft – “The Flynn Star“. This one, he said, “is a bit less gorilla/guerilla.”

Have you personally seen this already? What can you say about it?

Since I felt that Pappi wants his arts to be exhibited, I remembered the free workshop for artists tomorrow at NJCU and told him about it. I am unsure if he will go, but if he does, I’d be glad to hear his review. Maybe after that, Pappi will think about displaying his works in a bigger targeted audience.

Keep up the good work, Pappi!
