I will be out of the country for a “long” vacation starting Monday, July 7, and will be back August 29. JCRegister.com will still remain online, but the number of posts will decline noticeably as my online hours will be limited.
That being said, I am inviting everyone to write for this site. If you want to contribute: report a breaking news, rant, share your opinions, etc, feel free to send your writeup at info@jcregister.com. I will still check my email regularly, but just couldn’t do the things I normally do online.
If you want to post photos, include them in the email as attachments with short description.
There will be two scheduled posts after this so make sure to check them out.
In the meantime, I have a plane to catch, so I’m off for now.
See you all later!
Taken around 830PM… Have you been to Jersey City’s India Square on Newark Avenue?

Have a good night!
Here’s an excellent night shot by downtown resident Steve Kelley:

He describes it: “Beautiful Jersey City”
Who would disagree?
Before you dive yourself to work, here’s a nice “feel-good” video (1:18 mins). It’s about two friends who rescued a cub and raised it for a year. They named it “Christian”. However, it got too big for their apartment in London, so they returned the lion to Africa. When they wanted to see him, they were told the lion became wild and would not remember them.
Guess what happened when they visited Christian… since I gave you the clue already, you don’t have to close your eyes watching the clip.
This video link has the full story (high-quality, 2:28 mins). Just ignore the music if you don’t like Whitney Houston.
I am not sure if you’ve seen this before, but I’m still posting it. This Bill Dance video is only 2 minutes and 30 sec long, but it will definitely give you “LOLs.”
Have a great weekend!
Who goes to Twin City? Have you noticed the tree in front of the supermarket on Van Wagenen Avenue?
The first picture was captured by Google Maps. I’m not sure when it was taken, I am guessing around Fall of 2007.

The next photo was taken today. See the difference?

I am not sure what happened but we all know that Jersey City had a string of thunderstorms the past couple of weeks.
The tree losing branches: is it an act of man or a result of fortuitous event?

What is the Full Moon Illusion?
The moon illusion, as it’s known, is a trick in our minds that makes the moon seem bigger when it’s near the horizon. The effect is most pronounced at full moon. Many people swear it’s real, suggesting that perhaps Earth’s atmosphere magnifies the moon.
When is the Best Time To Look Up
Moonrise times vary by location. On Wednesday, it will come up at these local times at these locations, according to NASA: New York City, 8:58 p.m.; Miami, 8:35 p.m.; Seattle, 9:51 p.m.
How’s the weather?
Right now, the weather in Jersey City looks A-okay: bright and sunny with clouds. Unfortunately, the forecast says we’re going to have thunderstorm this afternoon onwards. This is the day when you wish the forecast is completely inaccurate. So save your raindance for the summer.
Read about the full moon illusion here.
Before you head out of office or school to beat the rush hour, here’s a random video I’d like to share with you. Since Jersey City is an art-loving town, I opted to share an awesome clip showing the step-by-step digital painting of Albert Einstein.
Even if you are not an art and/or digital painting fan, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this cool video.
If you liked it, watch another one by clicking the rest of the entry and see Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) of Pirates of Carribean!
I came across this adorable video of baby dancing/bouncing around as the mother (presumably) plays the banjo.
Since it’s Friday anyway, I thought of sharing this with you to somehow cheer you up before you try and beat the rush hour later.
Here is the direct link in case the video doesn’t embed properly:

Since it’s a slow news day here in Jersey City, here is a random video for you before I go back to normal posting tomorrow:
Would you ride this car? It seems like it still brings the driver from point A to B.
Which is safer: riding this car or recording it? (I have an answer)
