“Mayor (Jerramiah) Healy has always been a proponent of positive outlets for our youth and a strong gun control advocate,” she added. “Mr. Jones’ lyrics speak of violence to women and police, of the drug trade and guns, and other activities that Mayor Healy could not endorse by sponsoring an event featuring Mr. Jones.”
I’m not really a rap-aficionado so I can’t personally comment on his lyrics. Are you a fan of Jim Jones? If so, what can you say about this news? Do you think Mr. Jones care about the cancellation?
For those who haven’t heard of Jim Jones, here’s one of his MTV’s: (Song: “Love Me No More & Byrd Gang Money”)

Local Bands/Musicians always get my support. So when Chris contacted me about his band’s need for a keyboard player and a drummer, I told him I am going to post about it.
If you do know how to play, or you know someone who does, kindly contact Chris:
Local Jersey City musicians, Chris Espiritu and Jay Anteola, former members of the New Jersey based band, uberfunction, are looking for a keyboard player and a drummer to start a pop-punk rock, melodic band. Chris and Jay have influences ranging from brit-pop bands such as Oasis to modern rock bands such as Green Day. They’ve written quite a few songs already and just need some musicians (who want to have fun) to play out with them.
If interested, email Chris at espiritu.chris@gmail.com
You can check out their music on myspace:

I also learned that Chris also knows BLEUD Band. Who knows, maybe my Flickr buddy Vince Ferraro, will capture them together in his cam in the near future.
So if you can play, don’t be shy to contact Chris. (While you’re at it, listen to their cool original songs on their myspace account)
