I’ll Be Back!

Monday, July 7th, 2008

vacation.jpg

I will be out of the country for a “long” vacation starting Monday, July 7, and will be back August 29. JCRegister.com will still remain online, but the number of posts will decline noticeably as my online hours will be limited.

That being said, I am inviting everyone to write for this site. If you want to contribute: report a breaking news, rant, share your opinions, etc, feel free to send your writeup at info@jcregister.com. I will still check my email regularly, but just couldn’t do the things I normally do online.

If you want to post photos, include them in the email as attachments with short description.

There will be two scheduled posts after this so make sure to check them out. ;) In the meantime, I have a plane to catch, so I’m off for now.

See you all later!

* JC Farmer’s Market and 440 Farms
Ian of New York’s Sixth blog lists summarizes JC’s Farmer’s Market. Meanwhile, a market in 440 also sells good produce (and fish weekly).

Del.icio.us - Online Bookmarking to Improve Your Net Surfing

Friday, June 20th, 2008

del.icio.us online and social bookmarkingHow many of you liked a site and made it a “favorite” by bookmarking it? I’m guessing most of you. You bookmark a site because you want to come back to it some other time. But what if you like hundreds of websites? Saving them in your computer will create a seemingly endless list which becomes difficult to organize. Not only that, you won’t be able to access your bookmarks if you use a different machine. Inconvenient, isn’t it?

Enter Del.icio.us.

Del.icio.us is a website where you can save all your favorite links. It allows you categorize your bookmarks so you can easily find it, as your list of faves grows. Think of it as an online cabinet, and since it is on the internet, you can access it from a computer with internet connection. It is free. All you have to do is register (which is very easy) and use it.

To learn more about it, here’s a 3 and a half minute tutorial about Del.icio.us. After watching the clip, make sure to read the rest of this entry for my comments:

Make sure to read my video comment below…

Meanwhile, visit my online bookmarks at http://del.icio.us/jcregister to see the pages I’ve saved. Maybe you’ll find something interesting. ;)

If you decide to create a del.icio.us account, make sure to bookmark jcregister.com.

Jersey City Street View Now in Google Maps!

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

JC Street View In google Maps - Journal Square
Street View of Journal Square. Map not clickable

I’ve been wanting this “Street View” feature in Google Maps ever since I started this blog 5 months ago. I keep checking it, hoping our town to have a “blue outline” on our streets (to the point of making a post about it).

And then unexpectedly, when I checked an address just a while ago, I was surprised to see the street view feature already enabled in Jersey City and neighboring areas like Union City, Hoboken, and Bayonne.

Try it: Journal Square, Jersey City

I’m 100% sure that Google enabled JC street view just this week, because I didn’t see it when I wrote this post 3 days ago.

Do you like the Street View feature of JC in Google Maps?
