Lead In Water at 7 Schools

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Seven of 335 water sources in seven Jersey City public schools have elevated levels of lead, according to the first results of last month’s water tests by the Jersey City Board of Education (JCBOE). So your might need to give your children their own bottled water if they go to one of those 7 schools in the news.

JCBOE’s letter to the parents is posted here in case you lost your own. It contains the specific details of the test they conducted last month so be sure to read it again.

Download the letter here (PDF Format, 4.72mb in size).

Weather: No More Heat? June 11, 2008 (+ School Closings)

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

If the forecast is correct, today is going to be cooler or colder in Jersey City. It’s not cold “cold”, but temperature is down compared to the past 4 days when we experienced excessive heat. Simply put, it’s still hot (in the 80’s) but not as hot as yesterday.

How did you cope with the heat wave these past days? I believe we are all survivors, so now I am proposing a shirt that says “I Survived The Heat!” Somebody gotta make that one!

With the spring sizzler almost gone, the only worry left for us is the PATH trouble. Hopefully, no more “fire” in the tunnel in the next 2 years. I heard somebody said doubtful. :P

Enjoy your day!
