Walgreen’s makes the crime news again.
A week ago, a lady was successful in preventing an attempted carjacking. Yesterday, however, one woman fell victim to three women/muggers at the same location. Reports said that the 22-year-old was getting into her car when the muggers assaulted her, then took her belongings and valuables. Suspects are still on the loose.
Are there any surveillance cameras installed in this area? When will the Jersey City Police assign more cops to this corner?

A man was brought to Jersey City Medical Center after he was hit by either a baseball bat or wooden stick in the head. He was robbed $150 and a cellphone. This happened when he was walking on Pacific Avenue at 4AM. I am guessing he was attacked from the back as he didn’t know what hit him.
Doctors treating the victim at the Jersey City Medical Center initially feared the injuries could be life threatening, but John McKeegan, spokesman for the hospital, said last night the victim was treated and released.

Fortunately, they were busted last night at Baldwin Avenue and Wayne Street (see C on the map) after witnesses told the cops that they saw the girls attacking a woman at Sip Avenue and Jones Street. (see A on the map)
Here’s more snippet of the news:
“…another woman came up to the officers and said she had been mugged by the same girls earlier on Mercer Street, reports said. (See green highlight)
Police said the girls - who were all wearing red - matched the description of a group of girls that was attacking people in the area of Vroom Street and Tuers Avenue… (see B on the map) “
After reading the news here, I can’t help but ask: Were the parents of these kids at fault?

More than $200,000 - that’s the estimated total amount of the stolen Yankees hats, shirts, and jerseys from Arya Samaj Mandir ministries in Jersey City. The merchandise was donated by the New York Yankees.
The robbery happened last Friday (May 30, 2008 between 2 and 3 a.m.) “…someone entered the Woodlawn Avenue property by cutting a hole in the metal fence in back of the building with a bolt cutter…” which is the garage where the items were stored.

A little tidbit: $200K is less than 10% of A-Rod (Alexander Rodriguez, a Yankee) monthly salary. How much does he earn annually? Do the math.

A gas station on Tonnelle Avenue, Jersey City was nearly robbed last night at 1045PM. The attendant was able to hide behind a soda machine when one of the 4 suspects pointed a gun in his face. The car - a blue 2002 Toyota Celica - took off empty-handed. However, the attendant was able to read its plate number.
Pardon my ignorance, but my only question is: why didn’t the news publish the plate number of the car?
