Mugging at Walgreens Parking Lot

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Mugging at Walgreens Parking Lot
Somewhere in this parking lot, a woman was mugged by 3 women.

Walgreen’s makes the crime news again.

A week ago, a lady was successful in preventing an attempted carjacking. Yesterday, however, one woman fell victim to three women/muggers at the same location. Reports said that the 22-year-old was getting into her car when the muggers assaulted her, then took her belongings and valuables. Suspects are still on the loose.

Are there any surveillance cameras installed in this area? When will the Jersey City Police assign more cops to this corner?

More in this news.

Struck in the Head!

Baseball bat Pacific Avenue
Not actual location.

A man was brought to Jersey City Medical Center after he was hit by either a baseball bat or wooden stick in the head. He was robbed $150 and a cellphone. This happened when he was walking on Pacific Avenue at 4AM. I am guessing he was attacked from the back as he didn’t know what hit him.

Doctors treating the victim at the Jersey City Medical Center initially feared the injuries could be life threatening, but John McKeegan, spokesman for the hospital, said last night the victim was treated and released.

Five Juvenile Girls in Journal Square - Busted

Wednesday night is a time when 12-year olds should be doing their homeworks. But this group of five girls (ages 12-16!) was roaming around the Journal Square area mugging adult women twice their age.

Fortunately, they were busted last night at Baldwin Avenue and Wayne Street (see C on the map) after witnesses told the cops that they saw the girls attacking a woman at Sip Avenue and Jones Street. (see A on the map)

Here’s more snippet of the news:

“…another woman came up to the officers and said she had been mugged by the same girls earlier on Mercer Street, reports said. (See green highlight)

Police said the girls - who were all wearing red - matched the description of a group of girls that was attacking people in the area of Vroom Street and Tuers Avenue… (see B on the map)

After reading the news here, I can’t help but ask: Were the parents of these kids at fault?

Batting Incident on Montgomery Street

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Montgomery Gardens Public Housing Complex
More fields are being shut down in JC, but some people in McGinley Square area love “playing” with their baseball bats! *insert mad emoticon*

Montgomery Street makes the news again. This time a batting incident occured at Montgomery Gardens in McGinley Square area. A 35-year old Jersey Avenue man was beaten with a baseball bat last Monday at around 9PM.

Police said the victim suffered multiple head injuries particularly in the face and jaw, and was unable to speak. However, “he gave them a handwritten account of the attack” when he was brought to Jersey City Medical Center, according to the news.

Couple of months ago, a Chinese delivery man was also batted in the head near that place and was also treated at the same hospital

These crimes have to stop, before the city requires a person to have a “baseball license” before getting a baseball bat!

Pregnant Lady Snapple Bottle
Photo for illustration purposes only.

When you see a pregnant woman, what do you think about? Me, I think about how she needs to be taken care of. To me, a pregnant lady is delicate and vulnerable to danger. She carries two lives: Hers, and her baby.

So expect me to get upset/infuriated whenever I hear a pregnant lady getting hit on purpose by someone for no good reason.

Take the case of this pregnant Lexington lady (18-years old) who was struck with Snapple bottle in the head by her boyfriend. According to her, she and her boyfriend got into an argument and the guy got angry then threw a glass bottle at her, hitting her in the head.

Now, the girl has two bumps to worry about: one in the belly, and one in the head.

Good thing is, the boyfriend doesn’t have a gun within reach during their argument!

News report says the man is still at large, so we wouldn’t know his side of his story. But who cares? If your partner is pregnant, practice self-control.
