BALLY FITNESS on Bergen Avenue, Journal Square section of Jersey City is now hiring. But I guess the more important question is: When is BALLY really going to open?

Many residents were anticipating the November opening, but according to JournalSquareJC.com blog, opening date will be moved again since interior construction is not finished yet.

A lot of anxious Jersey City residents have asked this question: When will Bally’s in Journal Square (JSQ) open?

According to JCConstruction blog, Bally is expected to open this July. But after a quick phone call last week, I learned that it is going to delay the opening date.

The lady that I talked to told me they will open late August or early September. Praveen, a JCRegister.com visitor, commented the same thing.

I called again yesterday afternoon, and the guy on the other line said that BALLY’s JC will open in two months — around late August.

If you want to call them yourself, find the 411 below. (You will be asked for your information, by the way … it’s up to you if you want to give it or not)

JSQ Plaza is undergoing major renovation, and lots of businesses in the same area shut down or relocated to another spot before the old hotel at the corner of Sip Avenue and Bergen Avenue/JFK Boulevard got demolished.

That included McDonald’s.

JCConstruction has a post about the construction going on at 2873 JFK Blvd, and it mentioned that McDonald’s will occupy that spot.

Exact date of opening was not stated, but the restaurant is “now hiring” crew members. (see photo below)

Big Cheese Deli and Pizza - Front

This deli is finally open. One of the business owners seemed excited about their grand opening day (yesterday) when I talked to him the other day. The place is quite big for a deli, it has 8 tables (4 chairs each) and a buffet in the middle.

Place looks nice and clean also. Definitely going to try this place one of these days.

The name of the warehouse? AMB Pulaski Distribution Center. The developer? AMB Property Corporation.

According to the news that I’ve read, PJP Landfill was a garbage dump before, which has been closed for the past 35 years. No wonder it looks like a forbidden forest whenever I drive to 440 or whenever I refuel my car from Ultra-Truck Stop (see letter A on the above photo), one of the cheapest gas stations in Jersey City where I frequent to.

According to the press release of AMB Property Corporation, it has acquired approximately 50 acres of land in JC from Roman Catholic Archidiocese of Newark after two years of negotiations.

…AMB plans to develop an 878,000 square foot, cross-docked facility on the site, AMB Pulaski Distribution Center, to serve the nearby Port of New York and New Jersey, and to apply LEED(TM) Silver Certification standards to its design, construction and operation…
