Walgreen’s makes the crime news again.
A week ago, a lady was successful in preventing an attempted carjacking. Yesterday, however, one woman fell victim to three women/muggers at the same location. Reports said that the 22-year-old was getting into her car when the muggers assaulted her, then took her belongings and valuables. Suspects are still on the loose.
Are there any surveillance cameras installed in this area? When will the Jersey City Police assign more cops to this corner?
More in this news.

Last Sunday, Eliza Guevarra, a 21-years old nursing student of Hudson County Community College, successfully avoided an attempted carjacking because of her “grace under pressure.”
Reports said she pulled into the Walgreens parking lot and as soon as she opened her door the man put the gun to her head, saying “Get in the car or I will pop you…” . The man wanted the car so he can drive to Newark.
Luckily, she was able to maintain her poise and was able to convince him that she will drive him to Newark if he put his gun down. The man complied and walked around the passenger side. And as soon as he got in the car, Eliza jumped out and ran into the store to seek help.
…She said the man panicked at that point, picked up the gun and fled on foot toward Harrison Avenue. Guevarra said there were three people very close to her car during the incident, but none came to her aid or called police…

Well, 2 months had passed, the place still looks the same.
At the corner of Union Street and Kennedy Boulevard, you will find this rectangular building that was formerly occupied by the Jersey City Education Association (JCEA). Who’s going to rent this abandoned building? I have no clue.

JCEA has moved to Greenville Area, near the boundary of JC and Bayonne.

UPDATE (May 26, 2008) : Happy Memorial Day! Today, banks are closed; post offices are also closed; libraries are closed as well and will reopen tomorrow. Parking is free during holidays, so you can park at metered spots. Buses, *I believe* are running their normal schedules. Call them to verify before you plan. Enjoy the rest of your holidays!

Most of the companies start their vacation today, in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday. Any one wondering what the weather is going to be this weekend? Well, it’s going to be really nice from Friday-Monday! How are you going to spend the day? My family is thinking of going out. I got invited to a BBQ party outside Jersey City, but I don’t think I’m going. It’s too far. Does anyone here in JC want to invite me to a party?
Yesterday was gorgeous, but a little breezy. it was a sign of the days to come. Below is a snapshot of West Side area (Fairview and JFK blvd).

My old camera phone doesn’t do justice to the fun going on at Audubon Park (Stegman Pkwy and JFK)

How are you spending your days-off?
