What’s going to happen to this building?

Well, 2 months had passed, the place still looks the same.
At the corner of Union Street and Kennedy Boulevard, you will find this rectangular building that was formerly occupied by the Jersey City Education Association (JCEA). Who’s going to rent this abandoned building? I have no clue.

JCEA has moved to Greenville Area, near the boundary of JC and Bayonne.

I saw an empty lot at the corner of 63rd Street and JFK Boulevard, in front of Cityline Plaza in Bayonne. It looks like it was previously occupied by a gas station before it shut down.
The spot is the boundary of Jersey City and Bayonne. Have you seen this place? Any information about this seemingly abandoned lot?

Craige Morsels took this photo of an abandoned building in Paulus Hook last month. It is next to a Catholic School he says. Have you seen this one?

The photos above are of the same building, but the one on the right is focused on the overgrown branches of a tree.
Below, Craige titled the photo as “What Language?“, referring to the blue vandal on the building.

Head over to Craige’s flickr site to view the photostream.
Do you have interesting Jersey City photos that you would like to share? Feel free to send them at info@jcregister.com, add a little description to make it more interesting.
Metropolitan is right between the boundary of Journal Square Area and The Heights Area of Jersey City. It is next to State Highway 139, so if you drive to Holland Tunnel via JFK and 139, I’m sure you’ll be able to spot this building.

Abandoned? Seems like it. If you know of any information about this place, feel free to post it in the comment box below.

Two more pictures if you read the rest…

This Coptic Church building has been closed for a long time now. Has it been shut down longer than Pasha Restaurant has? I am not sure. There was a notice on its front window that says something about “Thanksgiving”, but I really didn’t pay attention.
The building to its left looks abandoned, too. But I saw the “FOR RENT” sign on the top window.
If you know something about this COPTIC Church, feel free to leave a comment.

Top - 63 Sip Avenue (Doctor’s Office)
Bottom - 65 Sip Avenue (Hudson Physical Therapy)
They are separated by Jones Street, between PATH station and DMV (MVC) office. What kind of Jersey City business do you think will replace these? Do you know of articles that talked about these abandoned sites? Feel free to post them in the comment section.
On West Side Avenue, I spotted a supermarket (”Fine Fare”) that looked abandoned. Then I realized, 2 more buildings/apartments to its right are also shut down.

I have heard/read of West Side renovation, but I’m not sure if these buildings are included. If you know of any articles that point to this area of West Side Avenue Jersey City, feel free to post it on the comment section.

This apartment/house in a residential area is hard to notice as Jersey City motorists seldom drive by Jordan Avenue. So when I saw this at the corner of my eyes as I drove out of the parking lot, I decided to take a few pictures.
Right next to it, is another empty shelter. On the lower window, construction notices are stickied, but I don’t know when they are going to start renovating it.
Talk about hitting two birds with one stone.

Do you have any inside information about these two abandoned apartments?

I have been wanting to post this for a looooong time because I fully know that this Kentucky Fried Chicken in JSQ Plaza has been closed for years now. However, its business neighbors like McDonald’s and Hallmark remained opened (not anymore). No other Jersey City businesses replaced this spot so I classified this as “abandoned”. Hence, a separate post.
When KFC JSQ Branch was still in the business, I always stop by this place to buy my favorite snack (the $1 chicken sandwich) so I was really saddened when they moved to Communipaw Avenue.

When I walked there today to take pictures, I just learned that the whole series of buildings in the plaza have been shut down. (Innocent question: Do you know why?) The smell was disgusting, so I won’t even describe it here.
Oh, and pictures will be posted in the near future so stay tuned!
