The 20th Annual Philippine-American Friendship Day Grand Parade and Festival will start and end in the West Side area of Jersey City. In the previous years, the festival took place in Exchange Place, by the waterfront Jersey City.
This year’s event will kick off at Lincoln Park and festivities will be held at Hudson Bergen Light Rail Station Parking Lot.
PAFCOM officials said they decided to change venue to reach out for more Filipinos. William Pineda, 2010 PAFCOM Overall Chairperson, said that the move gives more space and allows easy accessibility for those who would like to attend. He also added that parking space will not be a big issue anymore.
Like before, the Filipino festival will feature famous celebrities from the Philippines. The highlight of the event will be the annual Filipino Idol Competition, a singing contest patterned after “American Idol”.
