Decorated Tree in Downtown Jersey City Brings Color to a Lousy Day
Jersey City local street Artist PJW or “Pappi” – who made some intriguing metal sculptures before such as the Glass Bottle Bubbles, Chain Stars/Web, Flynn Star, and Chain Indecision – is back.
At 3rd and Brunswick (out side Madam Claude’s), you will see a decorated tree which he names “Mylar Tree”.
Here’s his message sent via email:
“I know it has been a long time since I did any public art stunt… This weekend Monica and I were able to decorate a tree. A few passerby
asked curiously why but it was pretty low key. However, at one point I
was up in the tree and a cop car put on his sirens and sped towards
us… I thought, okay here we go!.. but then he turned off his
siren/lights just as he got close… so I guess they liked it…”
Hopefully, the decorations stay up despite the strong winds and heavy downpour.
