[Original Post: 2AM]More than a thousand people attended the wake of the fallen Jersey City Detective Marc DiNardo yesterday at McLaughlin Funeral Home in Journal Square. He was shot in a shootout last week and died last Tuesday.

He is survived by his wife Mary and three young children (ages 4, 3, 1).

From McLaughlin Funeral Home, DiNardo’s casket will be brought to St. Aedan‘s Church on Bergen Avenue for a funeral mass that will begin at 1030AM. Streets surrounding the funeral house and St. Aedan’s church are shut down and no-parking zones on some streets are in effect as heavy turnouts are expected.

Parking Rules
Temporary no parking zones from 6AM – 2PM July 24, 2009 for the funeral mass and procession:

  • Bergen Avenue from Sip Avenue to Fairmount Avenue
  • Tuers Avenue from Mercer Street to Montgomery Street
  • Glenwood Avenue from Bergen Avenue to Kennedy Boulevard
  • Mercer Street from Summit Avenue to Bergen Avenue
  • Tuers Avenue from Vroom Street to Mercer Street
  • Cornelison Avenue from Bright Street to Fairmount Avenue

Street Closings
The following streets will be closed starting 8AM July 24, 2009 until the procession passes through. Traffic will be back to normal after the mass and procession:
