New PATH Cars Official Launching @ JSQ Jersey City

The NEW PATH Cars will be officially launched at 12:30PM today at Journal Square PATH Station, according to a post in New York Times blog. NJ Governor Jon Corzine will join PATH officials in the ceremonial launch and a train of new rail cars will take a 10-minute ride from Journal Square to Hoboken, and then back.

The New PATH PA-5 Rail Cars feature the following:

  • Additional Doors – three sets of doors on each side allow for faster entrance and exit
  • Onboad Digital Displays – provide news and information to passengers
  • In-Car Digital Signs – LED displays show next stop, final destination and time
  • External Digital Signs – easy to read signs indicating train line
  • Enhanced Suspension – provides smoother ride
  • Security Cameras – for your enhanced security
  • Emergency Intercom System – allows emergency communication with train crew
  • Automated Announcements – clear announcements of stations, transfers and delays
