Forecast yesterday said that we might experience at least 5 inches of snow today, but the National Weather Service changed to Winter Weather Advisory this morning. Expected snowfall for today will be between 2 and 4 inches.

The lady in the photo above cleans up the snow on the steps of her house in the Heights. This is right next to the Christ Hospital on Palisade Avenue around 4:30 PM.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM EST SUNDAY.

LIGHT SNOW WILL OVERSPREAD THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON… PICKING UP IN INTENSITY AS THE AFTERNOON PROGRESSES. SNOW WILL THEN CONTINUE TO FALL INTO TONIGHT… MIXING WITH RAIN AND FREEZING RAIN. THIS WINTRY MIX ENDS SUNDAY MORNING.



TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS FROM THIS SYSTEM WILL RANGE FROM 2 TO 4 WITH UP TO A TENTH OF AN INCH OF ICE ACCUMULATION.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW… SLEET… OR FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES… AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

.LOW PRESSURE TRACKS ACROSS THE OHIO RIVER VALLEY TODAY… THEN PASSES JUST SOUTH OF LONG ISLAND TONIGHT. THIS LOW QUICKLY MOVES EAST OF THE AREA ON SUNDAY. THIS SYSTEM WILL PRODUCE SNOWFALL OVER THE AREA FROM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT. HOWEVER… MANY LOCATIONS WILL MIX WITH RAIN LATER TONIGHT. WHERE TEMPERATURES REMAIN BELOW FREEZING… FREEZING RAIN IS EXPECTED. THE WINTRY PRECIPITATION ENDS SUNDAY MORNING.
