Red Arrows Air Show: Cool or Bad Idea?

Red Arrows Air Shows flying over the Statue of Liberty.
See original photo here from Steve Kelley.
Yesterday, the British Red Arrows visited New York City and did some air show. The jets flew over the Hudson River and Statue of Liberty (photos and videos below), but some uninformed residents of Downtown, Jersey City got a scare when they heard the loud jet noises at around 630pm – 7pm, and associated it to 9/11 attack.
If you head over JCList forum, you’ll read mixed reactions from members living in downtown: some got scared; some thought the show was awesome; and some say it was dangerous — citing previous events where jets crashed.
Me, I wish I saw it but the event was too far from where I live. Thankfully, it was already up on youtube.
I compiled a few photos and short videos in case you missed it …
Here’s a 30-sec video clip of the jets flying over NYC / Statue of Liberty

Below is a 16-sec clip of the jets spraying US colors. Here’s the description on its youtube page:
…The British Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, flew over the New York Harbor today. I was able to catch the spectacle from the shores of South Beach on Staten Island…
Did you see the Red Arrows? How awesome was it?

I didn’t know this was going to happen but I happened to be on a barge in the middle of the Hudson river watching a sail boat race. I couldn’t have been in a better spot as they flew directly over us. Talk about the right place at the right time.I saw them coming but didn’t hear anything and wasn’t sure what it was until it got closer. It was amazing. I am so glad I was able to see that. It was a beautiful display and the red jets made it even more exciting.
I worked across from the WTC and was quite traumatized for some time, however, this in no way reminded me of the events. When I saw the red, white, and blue spay, I thought of patriotism and not terrorism. Relax and enjoy life folks.
Thanks for making me jealous Toni!
But seriously, I wish I saw it, too. If I had paid more attention to news, I would go downtown or to LSP to see it.
