Jersey City Photos

Long retired, the Colgate Clock in Jersey City sits in a weedy field by the Morris Canal. Life goes on in Lower Manhattan on a dreary winter day as the World Trade Center grows taller. Twin City’s Lone Tree on Van Wagenen Avenue

Who goes to Twin City? Have you noticed the tree in front of the supermarket on Van Wagenen Avenue?

The first picture was captured by Google Maps. I’m not sure when it was taken, I am guessing around Fall of 2007.

Notice the branches?

The next photo was taken today. See the difference?

One branch left

I am not sure what happened but we all know that Jersey City had a string of thunderstorms the past couple of weeks.

The tree losing branches: is it an act of man or a result of fortuitous event?

Looks like more than a branch or two missing – the whole top of the tree is gone. Maybe it was damaged in a storm and public works cut a bunch more off. Or it could have been diseased or something like that. My money’s on act of man.
