Del.icio.us – Online Bookmarking to Improve Your Net Surfing
How many of you liked a site and made it a “favorite” by bookmarking it? I’m guessing most of you. You bookmark a site because you want to come back to it some other time. But what if you like hundreds of websites? Saving them in your computer will create a seemingly endless list which becomes difficult to organize. Not only that, you won’t be able to access your bookmarks if you use a different machine. Inconvenient, isn’t it?
Enter Del.icio.us.
Del.icio.us is a website where you can save all your favorite links. It allows you categorize your bookmarks so you can easily find it, as your list of faves grows. Think of it as an online cabinet, and since it is on the internet, you can access it from a computer with internet connection. It is free. All you have to do is register (which is very easy) and use it.
To learn more about it, here’s a 3 and a half minute tutorial about Del.icio.us. After watching the clip, make sure to read the rest of this entry for my comments:

VIDEO COMMENT
The video said that you need a toolbar to use del.icio.us. No, you don’t have to install it. If you are more accustomed to typing a website address in the the address bar, you may skip installing the del.icio.us buttons.
For example:
1. To go to del.icio.us home page: Open your favorite browser (mine is Firefox) then type without the quotes “del.icio.us” then press Enter
2. To go to your del.icio.us account: Type “del.icio.us/
3. To bookmark a site/link: Go to your delicious account then click on “POST”. Then enter some details, and you’re done.
These steps sound confusing, but really, it’s as easy as saying “Jersey City” out loud.
