Where and How to Send Donations for Myanmar Cyclone and China Earthquake Victims
The past two weeks have been bad for Asia, particularly for Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) and China. Myanmar had been hit by a cyclone which claimed more than 100K lives. A week later, a strong 7.9 magnitude earthquake shook China, destroying buildings and killing more than 10K people.
As far as I know, millions of people from both countries have not recovered yet from these tragedies, so if you want to donate something, here are two ways:
1.) Via American Red Cross (China and Myanmar)
2.) Via Archdiocese of Newark (Myanmar)

I called them yesterday and the lady who answered the phone said that if you want to send a check, you have to make sure you specify if it’s for CHINA or MYANMAR.

American Red Cross has a headquarter here in Jersey City, and you can also drop off your donations there. Below is their address:

However, to expedite your donation, just send it directly to the Fairfield office. The lady who I spoke to yesterday said that the donations that JC Headquarters receive are also forwarded to Fairfield. So why take longer routes, right?
2. ARCHDIOCESE OF NEWARK
Meanwhile, the Archdiocese of Newark is asking for donations for the victims of the cyclone in Myanmar as the death toll continues to climb.

Donations will be used by Catholic Relief Services to buy a range of supplies, said James Goodness, a spokesman for the Archdiocese…
