As a matter of fact, a Severe Weather Alert (see top right of this site) was already issued by the National Weather Service informing of the STREAM FLOOD in Hudson County and neighboring areas.

* URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY FOR… HUDSON COUNTY IN NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY… BERGEN COUNTY IN NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY… ESSEX COUNTY IN NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY… UNION COUNTY IN NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY… ORANGE COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK… PUTNAM COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK… ROCKLAND COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK… PASSAIC COUNTY IN NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY… WESTCHESTER COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK…

* AT 833 PM EDT…THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WAS TRACKING AN AREA OF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL MOVING ACROSS THE AREA FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST. BETWEEN ONE AND TWO INCHES OF RAIN HAVE ALREADY FALLEN ACROSS THE AREA OVER THE LAST 24 HOURS. RAINFALL RATES OF ONE QUARTER TO THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH PER HOUR OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS WILL CAUSE MINOR FLOODING OF URBAN AREAS… HIGHWAYS…STREETS AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER POOR DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.

IN ADDITION…FLASHY STREAMS AND CREEKS MAY RISE OUT OF THEIR BANKS. INCONVENIENCES CAN BE EXPECTED BUT THE FLOODING WILL NOT BE IMMEDIATELY LIFE THREATENING.
