Salmonella in Malt-o-Meal’s Puffed Rice/Wheat

Malt-o-Meal recalled its breakfast cereal on April 05
If you haven’t seen Puffed Rice/Wheat cereals in the stores, well, they were pulled off due to presence of some bacteria called Salmonella. “…At least 21 people in 14 states have been diagnosed with the same strain of salmonella identified in two cereals…” according to Centers for Disease Control (CDC). 3 of those are adult NJ residents.
…The cereals, unsweetened Puffed Rice and unsweetened Puffed Wheat, also appear in stores under private labels and have “best if used by” dates from April 8, 2008, through March 18, 2009. The cause of the contamination is not yet known, the FDA said…
Hope no one from Jersey City has eaten either of these Malt-o-Meal’s products. If you still have it in your shelves, throw them away.
