Abandoned? Metropolitan on JFK Boulevard
Metropolitan is right between the boundary of Journal Square Area and The Heights Area of Jersey City. It is next to State Highway 139, so if you drive to Holland Tunnel via JFK and 139, I’m sure you’ll be able to spot this building.

Abandoned? Seems like it. If you know of any information about this place, feel free to post it in the comment box below.

This used to be the Metropolitan VW dealership. There were rumors that they were going to bulldoze it for condos, but I don’t think anything came of it. There was a fire in the adjacent (last picture) after the VW dealership closed shop.
Thanks for the info, jayesque. Do you know if the owner is selling this building?
The dealership sold this property to a developer who wants to build 3 condominium buildings in it’s place, about 300 apartments. Currently the school (PS #31) and the residents of the area are fighting due to the fact that they don’t want to add a traffic light on skillman and st. pauls, the entrance to the condos will be on kennedy blvd and one on skillman creating heavy traffic. Skillman ave is a dead end block with parking only on one side of the street and if you build condos there’s never going to be parking. The school buses that come to pick up the students at the end of the day will have trouble coming in and out with the enourmous traffic being caused by the retail space they want to add on skillman. I believe instead of building condos for NYC residents to move into they should build more homes for residents in Jersey City.
