Long retired, the Colgate Clock in Jersey City sits in a weedy field by the Morris Canal. Life goes on in Lower Manhattan on a dreary winter day as the World Trade Center grows taller. Abandoned? 755, 757, 759 West Side Avenue

On West Side Avenue, I spotted a supermarket (“Fine Fare”) that looked abandoned. Then I realized, 2 more buildings/apartments to its right are also shut down.

I have heard/read of West Side renovation, but I’m not sure if these buildings are included. If you know of any articles that point to this area of West Side Avenue Jersey City, feel free to post it on the comment section.

This is right around the corner from where I live. West Side really is depressing, I can barely bring myself to go to the laundromat there. It has great potential, though, it could be a nice, lively strip, but there is too much poverty around here. Gosh, I wish there were a nice Café on West Side. This neighborhood is so inhospitable, there is nowhere to go.

  • Sounds like you can’t wait to move out. :P I’ve heard of West Side renovation, but I am unsure if it is West Side “Avenue” or West Side “area” of JC. The other end of West Side (going to Danforth) seems a nice place, there’s Miss America Diner in front of West Coast Video near Stegman.
