Yay, it is now officially spring! Too bad, the weather will be nasty because of the winds. The last time we had strong winds was March 8, and its aftermath was not pretty, as some debris went flying, even PATH Train services were interrupted.

The National Weather Service (NWS) already issued a wind advisory which means today is not going to be easy if you are going out.

Below is the Wind Advisory. As usual, important parts are highlighted for easy reading. CAPITALIZATION is not mine though. :P

WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM THIS MORNING TO 10 PM EDT THIS EVENING…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN UPTON HAS ISSUED A WIND ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM THIS MORNING TO 10 PM EDT THIS EVENING.

THE COMBINATION OF A TIGHT PRESSURE GRADIENT AND STRONG WINDS ALOFT WILL RESULT IN STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS TODAY INTO THIS EVENING. WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THIS MORNING AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY.

WINDS OF THIS MAGNITUDE…COMBINED WITH SATURATED SOILS FROM RECENT RAINFALL…COULD TOPPLE WHOLE TREES. THE WINDS MAY ALSO BRING DOWN TREE LIMBS AND POWER LINES…CAUSING DAMAGE TO PARKED VEHICLES AND POWER OUTAGES. LOOSE OUTDOOR ITEMS SUCH AS TRASH CANS MAY ALSO BE BLOWN AROUND…AND SHOULD BE SECURED. PEOPLE WITH OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES SHOULD REMAIN AWARE OF THEIR SURROUNDINGS.

THE MAGNITUDE OF THE SUSTAINED WINDS AND WIND GUSTS WILL BEGIN TO DECREASE THIS EVENING…HOWEVER WINDY CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE OVERNIGHT AND THROUGH THE DAY ON FRIDAY.

A WIND ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE 31 TO 39 MPH OR GUSTS WILL RANGE BETWEEN 46 AND 57 MPH. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT…ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION.

Jersey City residents, be careful out there! Later.
