Some Aftermath of Storm Last Night (March 8, 2008)
I have read some transformers blowing in downtown, Jersey City but have no confirmation of it. Hopefully everything is fine. In JSQ area, we are fortunate we did not have any accidents and power outages reported. (One flower vase here in the apartment got knocked down by the strong winds, though
).
However, some areas of New Jersey were not too lucky.
I saw in the news that in Ridgefield, NJ a utility post got knocked down by the high wind. In West Side Highway, there were flying debris all over the place; pieces of wood were falling from building construction, good thing there was a safety net.
The following companies below reported the number of households without power. (This is from Sunday Edition News on CBS2 shown this morning)
Power Outage Report:
PSEG – 65,000
JCPL – 17,000
CL&P – 13,000
LIPA – 3,000
Con ED – 2,000
