Long retired, the Colgate Clock in Jersey City sits in a weedy field by the Morris Canal. Life goes on in Lower Manhattan on a dreary winter day as the World Trade Center grows taller. Not So Green At The Greenery

My purpose in going to the shop was to ask for a St. Patrick’s Special. I saw a sign on the front door that says “SALE 50% OFF”. Instead, I received an unexpected news from Jeremiah – the owner of The Greenery: he is closing the store.

After 34 long years of existence, Jeremiah said it is time permanently shut The Greenery’s door. He’s running a lovely shop, so I couldn’t believe it; I asked if he’s simply moving. He answered, “I am retiring“.

Read on to learn why Jeremiah is closing his shop…. (more pictures ahead)

We chatted a little. He reminisced the time when there were a lot of people in his store during holiday seasons. He said he didn’t know what happened, but the business is very slow now. Reason why he is closing it.

Have you been to this lovely store? What are your experiences with it?

Below are some pictures of the store. If you find something that you like, head over Jeremiah’s shop and take it for half its price before it’s gone.
